As president of Donatelli Builders, Inc., Chris and his team of hand-picked tradesmen embrace each project with meticulous attention to detail that the luxury and upper-middle home market demands.

Chris was first introduced to the process of building custom homes at age 11 by his father by helping from time to time on job sites. The second-generation home builder instantly developed an appreciation for renovating and building homes that included fine architectural details. In addition, there was also a burning desire to learn all about the craftsmanship required to build such fine homes. As soon as he was out of high school, he started to work full time as a carpenter, learning how to remodel historic landmark buildings, construct all types of additions and build new custom homes. His appreciation for architecture and quality workmanship continued to grow during this period.

In the summer of 1989, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he started his business as a general contractor. For the first several years, the company took on all types of remodeling work — small or large. In addition to working directly for homeowners, in 1990 Chris purchased his first two-flat and converted it to a single-family home for resale in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood. Between 1997 and 2006, additional properties were purchased, developed and sold successfully. This first-hand experience taught him the value of surrounding himself with talented architects, designers and vendors to ensure the success of the project in terms of having a quick sale and staying within budget.   

Recently, Chris has won prestigious national awards including the “Dream Home Award” in the category of best whole-house remodel, two “Qualified Remodeler Magazine’s Master Design Awards” including a gold in the category room remodel and a silver in the category of sunroom/conservatory. “Constructech Magazine’s Vision Awards” also provided a gold award in the home automation category. Consumer and trade press also identify him for his credibility and frequently quote him. His projects have been published in such publications as the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Herald, Homes & Land of Chicago’s Western Suburbs, West Suburban Living, The Glancer, Qualified Remodeler Magazine, Constructech Magazine, OldHouseWeb.com and LowesForPros.com, among many more.
